The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM ®) Certification Exam is an entry-level certification for project management practitioners and students. The CAPM® Exam syllabus is largely based on the project management publication by PMI – A Guide of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), currently in the 6th edition.
By studying the PMBOK® only you can pass the exam as it is really much easier than the PMP® exam. The exam consists of 150 multiple choice questions to be answered in three hours.
Overview of the CAPM Certification
As we said the CAPM certification is for people who are interested in or are just starting a career in project management.
Minimum requirements you need to meet to be eligible for CAPM exam
OPTION 1
A secondary diploma (high school diploma/global equivalent)
AND
1,500 hours of professional experience on a project team
OR
OPTION 2
Educational Background Project Management Education Secondary diploma (high school diploma/global
equivalent)
AND 23 contact hours of formal education
CAPM Certification Application
You can fill the application only and you don't have to finish it in one shot, you can save it and come back later as it the application will remain open for 90 days.
Before you submit the application, you will be required to read and agree to the PMI Code of Ethics
and Professional Conduct and the Certification Application/Renewal Agreement, which can be found in this
handbook and on PMI.org.
After submitting your application the PMI may request additional audit materials (if your application selected for audit) and you will have 90 days to send the requested audit materials or your application will be declined.
In order to keep your certification valid re-exam is required every 5 years.
CAPM Certification Fees
First, you need to do the payment before scheduling your exam. From the date of the application approval, you can take the exam up to three
times during this year.
- Exam fees for PMI member are $225 and for nonmember are $300
- Reexamination fees for a member are $150 and $200 for nonmember
- Certification renewal fees for a member are $225 and $300 for nonmember

CAPM Examination Information
The number of questions is 150, 15 questions are unscored but you need to answer them and they are for PMI use to evaluate the questions and exam and improve the quality of the exam. Your final score will be over the 135 questions
You can take the exam at the Online protected test and center-based test and you will have three hours to complete the exam.
All PMI examinations are administered in English. Language aids (13 languages) for the questions and answers of the CAPM exam are available.
